This week the students have been expanding their understanding of measurement by using non standard units to measure objects comparing length, width, and height. The non standard unit of measurement we used today was our footprints!

We read the story "How big is a foot?"in which a King wants to make a bed for his Queen.

The King has the Queen lay on the floor then measures out the length and width she would need for a bed using footprints. The students were given the task measuring out how many footprints it would take to make a bed that would fit them. The students traced their feet on paper, cut out the footprints and finally measured out their beds.
