Measurement With a Common Unit

In a previous lessons, students have worked in pairs and used various objects to measure how long their partner was from the top of their head to their heal. Today all Grade One students used the unifix cubes as their unit of measurement to measure the height of their partner.

Which student is the tallest?

Using the unifix cubes to measure the height of our plants.

Students are using such mathematics terms as:

tall taller tallest          short shorter shortest        wide wider widest

more  -  less -   same

___  cubes taller than  ______
___ cubes shorter than  ______
___ cubes wider than  ______

Exploding Dots!

Grade 2 students have been using a fairly new strategy to practice their addition skills.
Using the exploding dots method, students have been adding 2 digit with 2 digit numbers up to 100. Some students have been challenging themselves and working with 3 digit and 2 digit numbers.
This strategy can be used with even larger numbers!
View our work below!

Ask me: How did I use exploding dots to help me solve my addition problem.eem? Ask me to show it to you!

Ask me to show you how to solve this problem using the addition strategy of Exploding Dots!
