Next week we will be taking part in: D.E.A.R.  “Drop Everything and Read”, where we are encouraging everyone in the school to stop what they are doing during the assigned times and read.  We are doing this to acknowledge the generous donation of a free book for each student from the Books for Kids program.

Today the students worked on a Pastel Resist Art in which the students drew themselves performing a back float learned in their swimming lessons.

They began by first drawing with pencil then filling in their self portrait with pastel crayons. Next they used a white pastel to draw the light reflecting off the water that we noticed in the swimming pool. Finally students began to use blue watercolor to paint over the white water reflection lines to create the image of the student back floating in the pool!
