This week the students began to develop an understanding of measurement!
Students worked in pairs and used objects in the room to measure how long their partner was from the top of their head to their heal. We began by using a large object such as a white board.
The students quickly realized that using a large object such as a white board does not give us an accurate measurement. Students were often 4 and a 1/4 or 1/2 of a white board so we decided to use something smaller and more precise.

We see the students using unifix cubes and base ten blocks to get a more accurate measurement.

The students combined their measurements at the end so we could see the difference lengths and the variety of objects used to measure.
