Our Decomposing Pumpkin

Our class jack o'lantern has been sitting in our class for class to three weeks. During this time, it has been undergoing many changes which our students have been observing. In their new Little Green Thumbs journals, they have been recording their observations.

It is rotting           The pumpkin is decomposing.               It it moldy in the inside.    It has black and white spots.          In the Peace Garden, nutrients from the decomposing pumpkin will go into the soil.
The nutrients will help other plants grow.

Here are some of the Before and After illustrations and writing.

Today we read an old story about mouse that finds a new home in decomposing pumpkin.
Please click on the book if your would like to hear some read this treasured story
