 Puzzle Tree Art

On this first day of Fall, students have been observing the seasonal changes that are taking place on our school grounds and in our community.  To celebrate this season we have been creating some interesting and colourful pieces of Autumn art.

Students started the project by cutting construction paper into the shape of small clouds. After they had made a few clouds the pieces were taped onto the blank page. As they painted the blue blue sky background, these areas remained untouched by the brush.

As the pieces of paper are pulled from the painting, beautiful white clouds appear.

A strip of black paint is applied to the foreground.
With thick brushes, students make long, slow strokes to form the truck and branches of their tree.

Pulling off the taped borders is always a lot of fun.

Old puzzle pieces are painted the colors of our Autumn poem,'
Red and yellow, green and brown.
 Leaves are falling all around.'

Finally, we get to glue all of those painted puzzle pieces to the painting.

Here are a few samples of the completed work.

During the Parents-Teacher Conferences
our students look forward to sharing their pieces of art with all of you.
Please check-out or hallway bulletin board.

We hope to see you at the conferences!
